Are stores open on holidays? Evenings?

The general guidelines are Monday through Saturday, 10-5 and Sundays, 11-5, but shops may choose to stay open longer on special occasions. Most of the restaurants are open evenings. More information is available in the Hours & Seasons section. Restaurant telephone numbers are available here.
NOTE: All Long Grove businesses are independently owned and operated. Business and property owners are free to set their own hours. If a specific business is your destination, always call ahead. Shop information is listed here.

Do you have a Lost & Found?

The Visitor's Information Center (847) 634-0888 collects and logs all lost items turned in by guests or our businesses. If the owner can be identified we will contact them. Otherwise, we keep items for approximately 6 months before we dispose of them.

Are dogs / pets allowed in the village?

Well-behaved pets on leashes are allowed in public areas, unless a problem arises or owners don’t control them. Shops have their own policies, but animals are not allowed in businesses where food is prepared or served.

Are the buildings handicap accessible?

Due to the historic nature of our village, not all buildings are accessible to wheelchairs or strollers. Cobblestone walks and steps are also found in some areas of the shopping district. The Visitor's Information Center maintains a list of handicap accessible buildings. Visit them in town or call them at (847) 634-0888.

Do you rent wheelchairs or strollers?

There are none available to rent in Long Grove.

Do you have public restrooms?

There are several public restrooms throughout the village and local codes require all public buildings to make facilities available to guests who ask.

Can Long Grove be reached using public transportation?

Long Grove is not currently served by commuter rail or bus lines. The Maps & Directions page has links and phone numbers to train and taxi services in the area.

Is photography allowed?

Long Grove’s buildings and greenspaces are very photogenic. Photography is encouraged for personal use. Photography for commercial purposes should be discussed with the property owner if the business sign or name will be displayed. The Visitor's Information Center can help to direct inquiries to specific property owners.

Can we take our wedding pictures there?

The rules above apply. Buffalo Creek Park on the north end of the district requires that photo shoots register with the Park District in advance. The Long Grove Park District Website is http://www.longgroveparkdistrict.com and their telephone number is (847) 438-4743.

Are outdoor events allowed?

Any event that involves a gathering of people outdoors in commercial or open spaces, especially involving tents, music, entertainment, signage, food service, security, parking requirements, etc. should inquire about a Special Event Application at least 90 day prior to the date. Call the Long Grove Business and Community Partners at (847) 634-0888 for further details.

Do you publish festival dates in advance?

We try to make our yearly calendar available in January of each year. Call the Visitor's Center to help with planning when dates are not available on this Website. (847) 634-0888.

Does the village have horse-drawn carriage rides?

Long Grove has traditionally offered carriage rides on special weekends throughout the year, for a per-ride fee, call the Visitor's Information Center for dates and details. (847) 634-0888.

Can we schedule a horse-drawn carriage for transportation from the church to the downtown area?

Please call the information center at (847) 634-0888 before booking because some festivals and events don’t allow access through the bridge or on roadways.

Do you still have concerts in the park?

That tradition lives on at various times and locations throughout town, but the schedule varies. Events will be published on this Website as it becomes available.

How do I participate in Fests as a vendor or entertainer?

Go to the specific event listing you are interested in and follow directions and guidelines for application.

How far is Long Grove from Chicago?

We are approximately 35 miles northwest of the Loop. Depending on the day of the week and time of day, it can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1-1/2 hours by car (Maps & Directions)
