Mel Towner opened his Amoco Station
in downtown Long Grove in 1958. 42 years later, he is still operating
the station along with his sons, Randy and Wendall.
The station is one of a few in the area
that still offer Full Service as well as self Service fueling.
In addition to gasoline, the station has three bays for repairs
which include: 20 minute oil changes, brakes, batteries, tires,
tire repairs and other repairs. They have three tow trucks for
towing and road service.
The station is located at the intersection
of Old McHenry and Robert Parker Coffin Road, right in downtown
Long Grove.
